Comparison
AutoJev vs Claude Code Router
Claude Code Router (CCR) and AutoJev are both local gateways that put one endpoint in front of your coding agents. CCR leans into rules, rewrites and a broad tool layer. AutoJev leans into measured, strategy-based model routing.
- Both: local endpoint, desktop app, multiple agents, open source
- CCR: rule-based routing, credential pools, ToolHub and MCP tools
- AutoJev: load balancing, intelligent selection, scheduled speed tests
- CCR facts checked against its GitHub README, October 2026

Two takes on the same idea
Claude Code Router started as a way to send Claude Code requests to other models. Its README now describes it as "a local model gateway and control plane for coding agents". It runs a gateway at 127.0.0.1:3456, a management UI via ccr ui, and ships as an npm CLI, a desktop app and a Docker setup. Routing is rule-based — conditions on headers and bodies, model prefixes, rewrites, retries and ordered fallback models — and it adds a wide tool layer: Fusion models, ToolHub, MCP tools, browser automation and chat-app relays.
AutoJev runs its gateway at 127.0.0.1:9527 and focuses narrowly on choosing a model for each request. You group candidate models into routes like autojev/fast and pick a strategy: weighted load balancing with priority groups, or intelligent selection by cost, quality, speed or balance. To pin one model, call <provider>/<model_id> directly. Speed is measured by scheduled tests on your own machine; quality and balanced decisions come from the Jev decision model.
If you want to write explicit rules and extend agents with tools, CCR offers more surface. If you want routes that choose between models using real latency, price and capability data, with as little config as possible, AutoJev is built for that.

Where AutoJev is different
Strategies instead of rules
Choose a preference — balanced, lower cost, higher quality or lower latency — and let the route decide. No rule language to maintain.
Speed you measured
Three streaming requests per model per test, every 30 minutes by default, up to 30 samples kept. The latency preference uses these numbers without any remote call.
Clean connect and restore
AutoJev writes each agent’s config, backs up the original and restores it on disconnect or quit — keeping later non-conflicting edits you made.
When to choose Claude Code Router
Choose CCR if you want fine-grained routing rules based on request headers or bodies, request rewrites, credential pools across many accounts, or the extra tool layer — ToolHub, MCP tools, Fusion models for vision and web search, browser automation and relays to chat apps. AutoJev has none of those tools.
CCR also supports some agents AutoJev does not configure, such as Claude Design, Kilo Code, ZCode and WorkBuddy, and offers a Docker deployment.
What AutoJev writes for Claude Code
Connecting Claude Code in AutoJev sets these keys in ~/.claude/settings.json (excerpt). The original file is backed up first.

Frequently asked questions
Is AutoJev built on Claude Code Router?
No. They are separate projects with separate code. AutoJev is a Tauri and Rust desktop app; CCR is a Node.js project distributed as an npm CLI, a desktop app and Docker.
Can I run AutoJev and CCR side by side?
Yes. They listen on different ports (9527 and 3456 by default). Just point each agent at only one of them, so they do not both rewrite the same config.
Does AutoJev support routing long-context or background requests to a different model?
AutoJev does not use request-type rules. Instead, you give the agent a route and pick a strategy; put the models you want for heavy work in one route and fast models in another. If you need request-content rules, CCR is the better fit.
Can Claude Code use OpenAI or DeepSeek models through AutoJev?
Yes. Claude Code speaks Anthropic Messages to AutoJev, and AutoJev converts to Chat Completions or Responses for the upstream model. Thinking blocks are dropped and a model cannot gain tools or vision it does not have.
Which is free?
Both — and both are MIT-licensed. You pay your model providers directly either way.
